Gate of Nibelungen

Introduction

The Gate of Nibelungen (before Dwarven Ruins) consists of six dungeons with different bosses. Every boss has different skills and has his own strengths or weaknesses. Each of the six dungeons has up to 40 stages, where each stage has increased difficulty and rewards. Challenging any stage will consume Stamina (from 5 stamina on stage 1 to 35 stamina on stage 40). While challenging the Bosses in the Gate of Nibelungen powerful equipment and artifacts can be obtained. The higher the stage, the better the equipment and the artifacts you can obtain.

Bosses of Dwarven Ruins

The battles in the Gate of Nibelungen consists of two waves of enemy heroes and a boss wave. All the bosses in the Dwarven Ruins have their own skills, but also share a couple of skills. Like other bosses, the skills are immunity to control effects, including 75% turn meter reduction effect. Also the HP of the bosses can only be reduced to 75% of the initial max HP Cap. After every turn bosses deal 5% more DMG.

Efreet

The first dungeon is the home of Efreet. Efreet is a fast-paced Boss with a multitarget skill and a single target basic attack. The weakness of Efreet are attribute debuffs, like attack down or speed down. While having attribute debuffs, Efreet takes 100% more damage per debuff (up to 200%) and also deal less damage with the multitarget skill.

To defeat Efreet, use heroes that can place attribute debuffs (with high chance and/or Effect Hit) and make sure the Boss always has attribute debuffs. As the boss is naturally very fast, for example 3.100 speed on stage 30 compared to 2.200 speed of other bosses, his passive DMG increase stacks up quickly and can be devastating.

Tips and Tricks

  • Make sure Efreet has atleast two debuffs at any time
  • Use Speed Down I or II to lower the speed of the boss as he is very fast
  • Use Attack Down I or II to prevent your heroes getting onehit-KO’ed by the boss

Gwyneth

Gwyneth is the boss of the second dungeon and is known for his self-healing. The attacks are a multitarget skill and a single target basic attack. Compared to other bosses Gwyneth does overall less damage, but can be hard to defeat with self-healing from 5% (Stage 1) to 20% (Stage 40) per turn.

To defeat Gwyneth, use heroes that can inflict the debuff ‘Inferior Wound’ or ‘Severe Wound’ to neglect to healing of the boss. The boss can also be defeated by brute force if enough damage can be dealt.

Tips and Tricks

  • Make sure Gwyneth is always inflicted with the debuff ‘Inferior Wound’ or ‘Severe Wound’
  • Use Speed Down I or II to lower the speed of the boss to restrict the healing

Rum

Rum is the boss of the third dungeon and most popular for dropping equipment from the Speed Set. All the attacks of Rum are multitarget. Rum has a weakness against Damage-over-Time and is strong against all other damage. Rum takes 100% (Stage 1) to 0% (Stage 40) more damage from DoT, but takes 20% (Stage) to 90% (Stage 40) less damage from other sources. With this passive heroes with DoT are highly favorited in the battle.

To defeat Rum use heroes that can inflict DoT like Bleed, Burn, Poison, HP Burn or Internal Injury. Be wary of Nasakhma next to Rum! He will steal all buffs with his first turn which will leave your heroes vulnerable and in most cases will cause immediately defeat.

Tips and Tricks

  • Use heroes that can inflict DoT-debuffs or deal DoT-damage.
  • Make sure to use control effects on Nasakhma

Nedgia

When awakening your first hero to Awakening-1, you’ll gain access to the fourth dungeon containing Nedgia. Nedgia has three attack, consisting of both a singletarget and multitarget skill and a single target basic attack. Both skills have a side-effect when heroes are attacked who are below a threshhold of HP, making the attack stronger (first skill) and increasing Attack of the boss (second skill). With his passive the boss also reflects damage taken to the attacker.

Nedgia is overall a very straight forward boss, as there are no specific debuffs needed or increase in damage taken by the boss. While facing Nedgia make sure to bring enough shields and/or healing as the boss gains alot of Attack when hitting low HP targets and can hit hard after number of turns taken.

Tips and Tricks

  • Place your tank on the left side to attract single target damage.
  • Make sure to bring enough shields and/or healing to prevent Attack increase of Nedgia
  • Mamuk is also a very great tank in this fight due to the taunt and immortality in his skill set as most of Nedgia attacks are single target.

Graulen

When awakening your first hero to Awakening-3, you’ll gain access to the fifth dungeon containing Graulen. Graulen has three multitarget attacks. Both active skills and his passive have additional side-effects when dealing damage to targets without a shield. This includes increase in damage from 30% (Stage 1) to 120% (Stage 40), Stunning enemies or gaining more Attack per target hit.

While facing Graulen, make sure all your heroes have a shield active at any time during the fight. Besides that Graulen will do alot of damage to heroes without a shield, he can inflict stun or gain immense increasing Attack.

Tips and Tricks

  • Try to have a shield on all your heroes at any time during the boss wave.
  • Usefull heroes are for example Nordak, Nicholas (santa), Seth and Katherine.

Marius

When awakening your first hero to Awakening-5, you’ll gain access to the sixth and last dungeon of the Dwarven Ruins, the home of Marius. Being the latest unlocked boss, naturally also the hardest of the six. Marius has three attack, consisting of a multitarget basic attack and both a singletarget and multitarget skill.

Frost Mark During the fight Marius will inflict the debuff [Frost Mark] with his basic attack (all enemies) and his first active skill (single target). This debuff lasts for 5 turns and when 3 layers are stacked on a target, they get frozen / debuff [Freeze]. Both [Frost Mark] and [Freeze] can be blocked by the buff [Block Debuff] or cleansed with passive/active skills.

While facing Marius, make sure you have enough shielding, healing and/or debuff cleansing. The enemies besides Marius are also important to take care of quickly. These heroes are Luna and Taff, combined have buffs [Heal] and [Block Debuff] and can be very annoying as this can stall the fight or heal Marius back up.

For fighting Marius, a special shout-out to Mamuk. He is an exceptional hero for this boss fight as he has the buffs [Taunt] / [Immortal] and is Immune to [Freeze]. While having [Taunt] / [Immortal] (100% up-time with max skills), he gets targetted by the singletarget attack which inflicts 2 layers of [Frost Mark]. As he is Immune to [Freeze], being inflicted with [Frost Mark] has no effect on him. Also due his [Immortal] Mamuk can’t be killed.

Tips and Tricks

  • Use heroes that can cleanse or prevent debuffs, like Katherine and Nordak.
  • Keep an eye on the layers of [Frost Mark] on your heroes. At 3 layers a hero gets inflicted with [Freeze].
  • Mamuk is a perfect counter for the boss. Use him if you have trouble with inflicted [Frost Mark] or [Freeze].
  • Remember to ban Faction Heirlooms (up to 6), to have a higher chance on the Faction Heirloom you need.

Team Setup

Choosing heroes and building a team is a key factor in challenging the bosses in the Dwarven Ruins. In most cases the team will consist of 2 damage dealers and 3 supports. Although this may vary based on which dungeon and/or stage is challenged, the team setup and available heroes of a player. Most important that the heroes ‘work together’ and use abilities at the right time to have enough shields and buffs to survive and deal enough damage. Below are a couple of teams for new players up to long term players, that can be used a reference when building your own team!
